About a year ago I found this
J. Crew linen dress at a
Goodwill store. There was no way that the bodice would fit me but I liked the print and the price was right. I had a vague idea that one day I would turn the dress into a skirt. Turns out today was that day!
With my trusty seam ripper I carefully took apart the seams that attached the skirt part and lining to the bodice. I also removed the zipper to be used in a future project. Waste not...!

I then cut the skirt to length; cutting from the top of course. Then the lining was attached to the skirt and turned to the inside. I did stitch in the ditch (more or less) to make it easier to turn. The most time consuming part was the zipper; I really wanted it to be invisible.
The whole project did not take very long at all and voila! - my new linen skirt. :)
By the way the color is actually navy although it looks almost black in the pictures.
